The section provides general, reference information on approaches to the regulation of GMO circulation in the Kyrgyz Republic and is for informational purposes only.
In the Kyrgyz Republic, matters related to genetically modified organisms are addressed within the framework of the national biosafety system, taking into account the country’s international obligations, including the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety.
Regulation may include:
assessment of potential risks to human health and the environment;
expert review of submitted materials;
decision-making by authorized government bodies.
Specific requirements and procedures are established in accordance with the legislation of the Kyrgyz Republic.
